Chiweenie Tales: A Daring Rescue

For today's post, I'll tell you about some scary (yet somewhat funny) occurrences with Leila.

See, we often take her out in our backyard to play with her stick; she usually brings the stick back for four or five throws, then starts circling around (and eventually eating) some deer poop. That's when we usually bring her in the house.

Sometimes, though, our neighbor's dog is out. It's a really old dog, and it has a low, rumbling bark. Whenever Leila sees the dog, she immediately runs over to him. She runs in close to him, then darts back out; in and out, in and out. Sometimes, she'll even run onto our neighbor's deck and stand next to their sliding door! As you can imagine, a nightmare to get her back. We often have to say "Leila! Want a treat??" in a high-pitched voice. Eventually, she listens, and comes sprinting back through our garage door, safe and sound.

Man, chiweenies are fast!! :D

In the video below, Leila once again shows off her noisy (yet cute) barking voice.

Chiweenie Tales: Leila's Yelping

For today's blog, I'll tell you about Leila's noisy, yet cute, yelping.

Whenever we're all sitting in the family room, Leila usually likes to lie on the edge of the couch so she can look out the window. We'll all be doing our own thing, when suddenly, we'll hear a low, grumbling sound - followed by some high-pitched squeaks.

Looking out the window, we'll see a couple walking together, or a neighbor doing some yardwork. Before we know it, Leila is in a frenzy, running from window to window, harping like she's in some terrible pain. Her tail wags, but her voice suggests an uneasy curiosity.

After a few minutes, Leila winds down, expunging a few last squeaks from her snout - and the next instant, she's plopped down on the couch, staring out the window once more. Oh, how cute she is! :D

Chiweenie Tales: The Chase Game

Hi there!! For today, I'll share a story about a fun game I play with Leila, which involves me running up the stairs.

See, the point of the game is to see if I can make it upstairs without Leila noticing; this can prove to be a daunting task, as she has 'satellite' ears (really, whenever she hears a noise, her ear cocks in the direction of the sound!) and a keen sense of smell.

What I try to do is run in one direction (say, from my kitchen to my living room) so she'll guard her post in between the two rooms. Then, I tiptoe around to my family room, through my family room to my stairs, and try to silently crawl up the stairs without her noticing. The thing is, I can usually only make it half way up at best before she's on top of me!! :D
